Easter Vigil On Easter Church of the Resurrection joins with Trinity Lutheran Church, which is just two blocks away, for ecumenical worship, education, and fellowship. The Easter Vigil begins at that year’s host church, where we light a fire in remembrance of the light of Christ. Summer worship in the park Each summer, CoR and Trinity Lutheran Church come together for a Sunday service in Miller Park. We sing along with guitars and then sit down to a picnic lunch with grilled hot dogs and hamburgers.

Educational events with Trinity CoR and Trinity Lutheran Church create opportunities for dialogue about issues that divide our communities. Last year we explored racial tension by watching and discussing two movies. Traces of the Trade told the story of an Episcopalian family in Rhode Island coming to terms with ancestors who traded slaves in the 1700s and 1800s. The documentary A Time for Burning, filmed in 1966, explores the failed attempt of Augustana Lutheran Church in Omaha to racially integrate.
Psalms study This year members of CoR and Trinity Lutheran spent four weeks studying the Psalms. These meetings culminated in a celebration that included dance, song, reflections, and poetry.
Joint activities with our neighboring church, Trinity Lutheran, allow both congregations to see how many traditions we share, despite our different denominational histories, and they let us learn from each other.
